How to have a fantastic fireworks display without spending a fortune

As fireworks are often used to celebrate a special occasion such as a wedding or a landmark birthday, it’s usually worth spending a bit of money to get an excellent quality display.

You do tend to get what you pay for with fireworks, but that doesn’t mean that you have to spend thousands to delight family and friends and mark a special event.  We’ve come up with a few very useful tips to help you get your money’s worth when planning a fireworks display:

Make sure the display is properly planned

To get the maximum value from your fireworks, you need to ensure they are properly spaced out. If everything goes off all at once, the beauty of each individual firework will be lost and importantly – the display will be a lot shorter than you’d want. Get the most from your fireworks by planning the order in which they’ll be launched, making sure to space them out without too many delays but also without burning through your whole stash in just a couple of minutes.

Don’t waste money on cheap fireworks

You might think that you can save money by buying cheap fireworks, but you should be very careful. If the price of a firework seems too good to be true – it almost definitely is. Cheap fireworks can actually be a false economy, as many fail to launch, can backfire, produce so much smoke that you can’t even see the firework itself or even cause injuries. It just isn’t worth buying cheap fireworks, as they can be a complete waste of money as well as potentially being very dangerous.

Watch out for costly mistakes

If you don’t know what you’re doing, it’s easy to waste a firework by launching it incorrectly or even worse, accidentally setting all of your fireworks off at once. This can be very bright and loud (and dangerous!), but it’ll all be over in a few seconds. If you’ve paid a decent amount for a proper display, this can be hugely disappointing.

Think twice before you DIY

If you know what you’re doing, you can potentially save money by buying the fireworks separately and managing the display yourself. However, if you don’t know how to plan a display or you’ve never set off fireworks before, you may be better paying a professional fireworks display organiser to do it for you – otherwise you could end up making some of the costly mistakes we’ve already mentioned.
