November 5th is a fantastic time for fireworks fans, with the celebrations carrying on for at least a week in the days before and after Bonfire Night. When the last firework has been launched into the sky and it’s all over for another year, it can be a bit of a deflating time for lovers of pyrotechnics.

The good news is that another big celebration is just around the corner, and now is the perfect time to start planning festivities. We’re talking about Christmas, followed closely by the biggest firework event of the year – New Year’s Eve.

How to start planning

Fireworks can be a great way to round off a fabulously festive Christmas party, whether at home or as part of a work’s Christmas do. And, of course, no NYE event would be complete without a spectacular fireworks display as the clock strikes midnight. Anything else is an anti-climax – only the lights, colours and incredible noise of fireworks is special enough to mark such a momentous occasion, the passing of another year.

The first thing to do is to decide whether you’ll be having a Christmas firework display or one on New Year’s Eve – or both! If both, you may need to choose different venues for each to avoid annoying your neighbours too much. Then, follow these tips:

  • Choose your venue very carefully, making sure you’ve got enough space to separate spectators from the firing zone. If it’s not your own property, book plenty in advance (do it now!) as many venues suitable for fireworks displays get booked up extremely early, particularly for NYE.

  • You also need someone competent and responsible to plan, manage and run your display. If you aren’t confident of doing it yourself and you don’t know anyone who can do it, consult an expert like 1st Galaxy Fireworks, who have lots of experience planning Christmas and New Year’s Eve fireworks displays.

  • Choose your fireworks! This is the fun bit, but there’s also lots to think about. Speak to an expert to work out how many products and of what kind you need to fill the time for your display. You don’t want to run out early, or spend far more than you can afford. You should consider fireworks that work well together and start putting together a plan and running order for your display. Only ever buy quality, approved fireworks – they may cost more than those super-cheap ones you can find online, but they will definitely be value for money. If you think about it another way, ‘too good to be true’ firework deals can be dangerous, mis-fire or produce so much smoke that you can’t see any of the effects.

  • Start inviting people. This is another one that needs to be done early, as people will quickly start to make plans for Christmas and New Year’s Eve. You don’t want to spend time and money planning your display only for you to be the only one there!

Happy planning!
